2018 marks the hundredth anniversary of votes for women in the UK This great political change was led by a single family – the Pankhursts, notably the siblings Christabel and Sylvia led by their mother Emmeline.

Thousands of women gave their all to the Suffrage movement, many endured emotional, physical and sexual abuse and others would pay the ultimate price.

Alongside the Pankhursts they all fought for “the sisterhood” but for Christabel and Sylvia their own sisterhood would be strained to the point of breaking.

But the private lives of the sisters are still less understood than their public personae
